The South Coast. News from Berry to the border.

About The South Coast

The South Coast covers one stretch of coast, Berry to the Victorian border, and what its towns share: the Princes Highway, the single spine that binds three councils with no railway south of Bomaderry, and the humpbacks that pass every headland from Jervis Bay to Twofold Bay between May and November.

The region is Shoalhaven City, Eurobodalla Shire and Bega Valley Shire: about 185,000 people strung along 300 kilometres of one highway, two health districts, a recovery still running from the Black Summer fires. What shapes it is written down in public documents very few people read to the end: council business papers, the bypass EIS, the hospital project pages, the Reconstruction Authority’s tables, the water allocation statements, the harvest plans.

We read them. The South Coast answers the questions people here actually ask. What did my council decide, and what will it cost me? When does the highway get fixed? Is the hospital opening, and what closes when it does? Where is the recovery money? Will the water hold? Every factual claim in a story links to the primary source we read, and how the site is made is set out plainly on how this site works.

We are non-partisan. Members of parliament, mayors and councillors appear through their public roles and the public record, and the contested beats, forestry, the emergency department, the bypass route, are covered on their documents, not for or against.
